의료폐기물을 일반종량제봉투에 담아 불법 배출한 요양병원과 동물병원 등이 무더기로 적발됐다.
경기도 특별사법경찰단(특사경)은 지난달 23∼27일 도내 요양병원 169곳과 동물병원 106곳을 대상으로 단속을 벌여 각종 의료폐기물을 불법으로 처리한 84곳(요양병원 57곳, 동물병원 27곳)을 폐기물관리법 위반으로 적발했다.
의료폐기물은 부패 또는 인체 감염 위험 때문에 의료폐기물 전용용기를 사용해야 하고, 별도 보관 기준을 준수해야 한다.
특히 2차 감염이 우려되는 의료폐기물은 배출과 수거 단계에서 감염성 및 손상성, 가연성 및 불연성 등으로 적정하게 분리하고, 환경이나 인체에 대한 유해성분의 발생을 최소화해야 한다. |
